Vintage Newspapers

A newspaper is a publication containing news, information and advertising, usually printed on low-cost paper. Newspapers may be general or special interest and they are most often published daily or weekly. By all accounts the first printed newspaper was published in 1605.

Vintage newspaper collecting is a very popular hobby, partially newspapers from the 1800s and 1900s. Collecting newspapers is especially strong on the Civil War and Lincoln's assassination.

There is nothing so dead as yesterday's newspaper. So goes the ancient time worn saying of newspaper men who look with a great deal of contempt upon yesterday's edition and yesterday's lead story.

Vintage Newspapers

Vintage newspaper collectors have been building up collections of old newspaper for many years. Because to newspaper collectors there is nothing so live and so important as yesterday's newspaper. The older the parchment and the more yellow its pages, the more value they put upon it.

Most newspapers can be classified into: A daily newspaper which is issued every day, weekly newspapers which are common and tend to be smaller.

Most nations have at least one newspaper that circulates throughout the whole country, a national newspaper, as contrasted with a local newspaper serving a city or region. There has also, been an emerging class of international newspapers. So save your newspapers especially those with important headlines.
