Sacagawea Dollars 2000 to Date

The obverse was designed by Glenna Goodacre and depicts Sacagawea, a young Native American Shoshone. On her back she carries Jean Baptiste her infant son. The coin exemplifies the spirit of Liberty, Peace and Freedom shown by Sacagawea in her conduct as an interpreter and guide to explorers Louis and Clark during their journey westward to the Pacific. Thomas D. Rogers designed the reverse side which shows an eagle in flight.

Mintmarks appear underneath the date on the obverse. Mintmarks include, P (Philadelphia Mint in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), D (Denver Mint in Denver, Colorado) and S (San Francisco Mint in San Francisco, California). San Francisco coins are only available in proof sets.

You should be able to find many nice specimens for your collection at just above face value to $5.00 for better grades such as uncirculated coins and proofs. Mixed rolls (25 coins) can be purchased for $30.00 to $40.00 and a great way to start a collection.
