Vintage Root Beer Bottle Openers

When the bottle cap or crown was invented in 1892 by William Painter, it created the need for a tool to remove it. Painter also patent the bottle cap opener. It took Painter two years to be granted a patent for what he call a lifter.

Hundred of different types of bottle openers have been issued beverage companies who used them to advertise their products. Most were produced by beer companies.

Hires Root Beer openers are the most common. With all other Root Beer openers quite rare.
