Embossed Root Beer Glass Bottles

Starting in the late 1800s and early 1900s it was common practice by soft drink bottling companies to emboss bottles as a form of identification and advertising. However, very fee bottles were embossed with Root Beer advertising prior to 1910.

Embossing is the process of cutting desired letters or designs into the inside surface of a bottle plate mold.

When the liquid glass is poured into the mold the result is a raised letter or design effect on the side of the glass bottle.
